HOMELAND BRASS BAND

Before touring the world with her band HHY & The Kampala Unit, Ugandan trumpet player Florence Lugemwa had an ambitious dream: to use music to inspire children, and change their future the way the trumpet changed hers.
In 2017, she founded the Homeland Brass Band Project, teaching more than 25 children in one of the most impoverished areas of Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

In 2024, she reaches out to the global music community to come together and give the Homeland Brass Band a permanent home.

This film tells the incredible story of a woman leading a musical revolution in the ghettos of Kampala.
